We often get asked this question by parents wanting the best for their children but not knowing which direction to go in. There are of course reasons on both sides, but we have found that children benefit from music lessons at home for a number of reasons.
Having experienced teaching both in schools and privately at the students’ homes, we can say with confidence that your child is likely to make the most progress as long as:
- The parents are regularly engaged with their child’s learning. This is a key part of their progress and really helps if the parent meets the teacher regularly, such as at the end of each lesson.
- The child does not miss their lessons. At school the lessons often clash with school trips, school exams and other activities which can be problematic. These problems do not exist with at-home lessons.
- The correct study materials and equipment are used in the lessons. At home, there is no chance of having the wrong books or instrument with you! It’s surprising how often this happens at school, resulting in a wasted lesson.
Parents also find that they can make a judgement about the rapport they/their child has with the teacher when having lessons at home. We all know that it’s important to have a teacher who connects with the student and inspires them, and at home you’re in control of that.
Forte Arts can help you with all of the above, and also provide you with an instrument to get you started, so why not get in touch now and unleash your child’s potential with music lessons at home!
